Design Studio 2025

Focus

This Studio sought to find out how we could best support the Betz-Tiger Point Preserve through an informed, landscape architecture response. The studio set out to do this by informing discoveries through qualitative and quantitative means that could inform an intention that resonates with the Jacksonville community and their natural environment. The Analysis group was tasked to unite these two research approaches, with a goal to help direct a collective understanding and propel meaningful, evidence-based design capable of speaking for itself.

Description

The design studio used numerous research methodologies throughout the semester to explore what is asked from the site in Jacksonville, as well as to inform proper design responses towards each of the office’s problem statement. These analytical tools include geographic datasets, social media algorithms, color relativity, atmospheric exploration, parametric software, digital fabrication, as well as transect data recorded on site.

Design Brief

By analyzing existing, pre-existing and projected data we can infer moments of opportunity that can emphasize responsiveness and resilience. Ultimately laying out the blueprints for our design that seek to interact within, along, and above the landscape.
